While naysayers predicted it would never happen, Hollywood super couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie exchanged vows in an event planned by their six children. PEOPLE has shared the couple's first official wedding photo. (at left)

The magazine's special issue featuring Brad and Angelina's complete wedding album and all the details of their big day will appear on newsstands Wednesday, September 3rd.

The intimate ceremony took place on Satuday August 23rd with only 20 friends and family members in attendance. The event took place at the chapel of Château Miraval, the family's estate in the French village of Correns. The bride's unusual dress was adorned with her children's artwork.

According to PEOPLE , each child took on an important responsibility in the event - sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked their mom down the aisle; Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, served as flower girls; and Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers. The children also had a hand in penning the couple's vows and baking the wedding cake.

"It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter," Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, tell PEOPLE. "It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family."
