Paul Dano to Play Brian Wilson in Upcoming Biopic LOVE & MERCY

Paul Dano is set to play BEACH BOYS frontman BrIan Wilson in the upcoming biopic, LOVE & MERCY. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.

In addition, Atticus Ross is reportedly nearing a deal to "compose the film's soundscape," according to the Reporter.

LOVE & MERCY will follow Wilson throughout his years in the 1960s rock group, which he served as frontman and lead songwriter for. It will also explore his mental health issues, as well as his martial woes with wife, Melinda, which ulimately forced him to leave the beloved band. Oren Moverman wrote the film's script.

Dano is actually only one of two actors set to portRay Wilson in the film. Another actor, who will take on the singer in his later years, has not yet been cast.

Dano is best known for starring alongsie Daniel Day-Lewis in THERE WILL BE BLOOD and LOOPER. He also lead 2012's RUBY SPARKS. At one time, he was poised to star in Jon Favreau's film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical JERSEY BOYS, but the WB abandoned the project in November, and there's been no news on it since.
