Pacific Overtures' B.D. Wong on NBC's 'Weekend Today'

B.D. Wong, currently starring on Broadway in Pacific Overtures, will visit NBC's "Weekend Today" on Saturday, December 2nd during the 7:30 - 8:00 AM half hour on channel 4.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) in association with Gorgeous Entertainment (Kumiko Yoshii, Producer; Michael Wolk, Creative Director) present B.D. Wong as "Reciter" in Stephen Sondheim's and John Weidman's Tony® Award-winning musical PACIFIC OVERTURES, directed by Amon Miyamoto. Additional material by Hugh Wheeler and Music Direction by Paul Gemignani. PACIFIC OVERTURES began previews on Friday, November 12th, 2004 and will open officially on Thursday, December 2nd, 2004.

Spanning 150 years, Pacific Overtures tells the story of Commodore Matthew Perry's arrival in the "Floating Kingdom" of Nippon in 1853. This landmark musical chronicles the influence America had upon Japan, detailing and dramatizing the westernization of Japanese culture. The style of the musical is based on ancient forms of Japanese theatre such as Kabuki and Noh.

Pacific Overtures will play Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8:00PM with a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinee at 2:00PM. Please note the following Early-to-Bed Series (evening curtain time is at 7:00 PM): Tuesday, December 14th through Saturday, December 18th and Tuesday, December 21st through Thursday, December 23rd, 2004. Ticket prices range from $36.25 to $91.25.
