With NBC's proposed MURDER SHE WROTE reboot shut down, Octavia Spencer has moved on to other ventures.

According to Deadline, the Oscar winner is set to star in Fox's drama pilot RED BAND SOCIETY, which hails from Amblin Television and ABC Studios.

RED BAND SOCIETY is a "coming-of-age drama, which explores with dark humor the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends. Spencer will play Nurse Jackson, who works in the pediatrics ward, a tough customer who's an excellent, intuitive nurse and doesn't put up with any crap from anyone."

The project is based on Albert Espiona's Spanish series POLSERES VERMELLES.

Spencer was most recently seen on the big screen in Fruitvale Station and will soon be seen in Joon-ho Bong's upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiecer, as well as the James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman. The actress won an Academy Award for her performance in The Help. RED BAND SOCIETY marks Spencer's first regular series role.
