OVATION Kicks Off New Year With Full Slate of Artful Series

Ovation, the only network devoted to artists and every kind of artistic expression, is kicking off the New Year with a full slate of artful series, documentaries and films, including those focused on classic and modern painters, a pop icon's most ambitious concert tour, classic and contemporary dancers, the film version of a literary thriller and a behind-the-scenes look at New York's competitive art world. Here are the highlights:

Manet: The Man Who Invented Modern Art, an entertaining documentary hosted by British art critic Waldemar Januszczak about the father of impressionism has its US premiere on Ovation on January 1.

The Emmy award-winning series, So You Think You Can Dance Season Nine premieres on January 4 and features two winners - male and female ballet dancers - for the first time.

Madonna: Truth or Dare, the classic documentary detailing Madonna's 1990 "Blond Ambition" tour, airs on January 6.

Song by Song: Johnny Cash , Ovation's original series about the Man in Black as told through the lens of his most-enduring songs. This encore performance begins January 13.

Dance School: Juilliard, a three-part documentary series that gives an inside look at the lives of sixteen dancers in their final year at the Juilliard School -- one of the world's most prestigious dance conservatories, airs January 21.

The Scapegoat, a riveting U.S. premiere two-hour movie, based on the Daphne Du Maurier novel, starring Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) premieres January 22.

Who The #$&% is Jackson Pollock , a documentary that tells the story of semi-truck driver Teri Horton who buys a splatter painting at a garage sale and then goes on a quest to determine if it's a Jackson Pollock original, airs on January 24.

Artstar, a reality series in which eight artists participate in a group exhibition and vie for a chance to headline their own solo show begins December 31. Ovation will air both season one and two of the series through January.

Rize, a critically-acclaimed documentary directed by photographer David LaChapelle starring Lil C' focusing on the street dance style known as "krumping," and Planet B-Boy, an exhilarating documentary about the phenomenon of breakdancing and five international dance crews' quest to win the Battle of the Year, air on January 28.
