From "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan and "Breaking Bad" writer Peter Gould, "Better Call Saul" focuses on the evolution of the popular "Breaking Bad" character Saul Goodman, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk, before he ever became Walter White's lawyer.

Today, Executive Producer Vince Gillgan confirmed to USA Today that we won't see two familiar faces in the show's first season.

"Walt and Jesse don't show up in Season 1, but everything else is on the table," executive producer Vince Gilligan said, adding that Jesse, played by Aaron Paul in Bad, likely would have been in middle school when the new show begins.

Saul starts six years before Bad, with Jimmy a much different person, a struggling Albuquerque lawyer who would like to do the right thing. He's desperate to find business and also is looking out for his older brother, Chuck (Michael McKean), who is on a leave from his law firm.
