Nia Vardalos, John Corbett Sign On for BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING Sequel!

Eonline reports that the stars and producers of the 2002 box office smash My Big Fast Greek Wedding will reunite for a sequel.

According to the report, the film's star and writer, Nia Vardalos has already penned the script for the project and will reprise her role as Toula Portokalos. 'Sex In the City' star John Corbett will also reup in his role as Ian Miller, the non-Greek who fell in love with her.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the sequel will reveal a family secret and a new wedding, described as "bigger and fatter," that brings the Greek clan together again.

Said Vardalos of the news, "Now that I'm experiencing motherhood, I'm ready to write the next chapter of my family story. Of course a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true."

The 2002 romantic comedy was directed by Joel Zwick and centered on Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, a middle class Greek American woman who falls in love with a non-Greek upper middle class"White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" Ian Miller.

At the 75th Academy Awards, it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Asleeper hit, the film became the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, and grossed $241.4 million in North America, despite never reaching number one at the box office during its release (the highest-grossing film to accomplish this feat).
