THE SEARCH FOR FREEDOM (documentary - 92 Min) hit the #1 position on iTunes for documentaries in Canada within one day of its release on August 11. Says writer/director Jon Long, "In this day and age of mass media and the constant barrage of information and distractions, who would of thought that a movie about finding freedom from the simple act of living in the moment would gain traction so quickly?"

This is Long's follow up to the groundbreaking documentary EXTREME, which grossed $27,000,000 worldwide box office and was seen in IMAX theatres by almost 800,000 people in Canada alone. THE SEARCH FOR FREEDOM has gathered several festival awards and has recently finished a 100+ city theatrical event across North America. The film is being released internationally by Universal Studios, Entertainment One in Canada and The Earth Network in the US.

THE SEARCH FOR FREEDOM explores how an electrifying new world came about through pure energy and imagination and the infinite possibilities of self-expression available to anyone willing to drop in. This documentary is a visceral, visual experience told through the eyes some of the icons of surfing, snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, mountain biking, MOTOCROSS and rock climbing. It features an A-star cast including Tony Hawk, Kelly Slater, Bruce Brown, Warren Miller, Kelia Moniz, Yvon Chouinard, Nyjah Huston, Jeremy Jones, Danny Way, Robbie Maddison, Robby Naish and more.

By pursuing fun, by chasing after that feeling of freedom, these characters instigated a paradigm shift that can be seen today as skateboard parks are built alongside baseball diamonds and city commuters are greeted by billboards depicting snowboarders jumping off cliffs.

This revolution has been televised, but the film explores the human stories behind this movement that has spilled into primetime. Says Long "I wanted to tell a bigger story about this movement. Despite appearances, what drives the characters in this film is not so very different from the fuel that successful artists, scientists and entrepreneurs run on: passion, creativity, grit, and a willingness to try new things and fail."

THE SEARCH FOR FREEDOM is now available on VOD through iTunes, Vimeo & Google Play.
