The Hollywood Reporter reports exclusively that NURSE JACKIE's Adam Ferrara will appear as a series regular when the drama returns to Showtime next spring. The actor was first featured as Jackie's love interest, Officer Frank Verelli, on the show's fifth season.

According to the report, in the upcoming sixth season, "Frank will learn that getting more involved with Jackie -- who was last seen popping a pill to go to her one-year sober party -- comes with its consequences and he begins to wonder if he's in over his head."

The actor's film credits include Definitely Maybe and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. He also hosted BBC's Top Gear U.S. and is a two-time nominee for best male stand-up by the American Comedy Awards.

NURSE JACKIE, which has received both critical and audience acclaim, stars Emmy and Golden Globe winner Edie Falco, who just this past season received an Emmy in the "Comedy" category for her lead role. Nurse Jackie also stars Eve Best, Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith and Peter Facinelli. Arjun Gupta and Stephen Wallem guest star. Lenny Jacobson co-stars. Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem write and executive produce the series along with Richie Jackson and Caryn Mandabach, who also serve as executive producers. The series is a co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate.
