NCAA to Launch Official YouTube Channel to Commemorate 75 Years of March Madness

As a part of its partnership with the NCAA and the season-long celebration of 75 Years of March Madness, T3Media, Inc. (formerly Thought Equity Motion), a leading provider of cloud-based video management and licensing services, and the official licensee of NCAA championship footage and photos, announced today the launch of an official YouTube Channel, NCAA OnDemand. The channel's videos are linked to All-Time March Madness Voting on NCAA.com where fans can vote on their all-time favorite players, teams and moments in NCAA tournament history. Results of the voting (Top 15 All-Time Players, one All-Time Team, one All-Time Moment) will be announced in Atlanta during the 2013 NCAA Men's Final Four.

"As we celebrate 75 Years of March Madness, we want to share NCAA championship content with fans through as many platforms as possible," said Keith Martin, NCAA managing director of marketing and broadcast alliances. "Publishing our video archive on YouTube allows fans who are searching the web for March Madness content to easily find their favorite players, teams and moments, participate in the All-Time March Madness voting, embed videos and share them with friends. With T3Media's library management tools, we're able to Leverage our rich archive and connect the tournament's history to this year's excitement and beyond."

The NCAA OnDemand YouTube Channel features the most memorable moments in March Madness history. The videos have been clipped and tagged so fans can find their favorite winning shots and game changing plays, including:

  • 2008 National Championship: Kansas vs Memphis - After trailing Memphis by nine points late in the game, Kansas guard Mario Chalmers hits a dramatic 3-point shot with two seconds remaining to tie the game and set the stage for a Kansas victory in OT.
  • 1992 Elite 8: Duke vs Kentucky - With 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime, Duke trailed 103-102. Grant Hill threw a pass the length of the court to Christian Laettner, who dribbled once, turned, and hit a jumper as the clock expired for the 104-103 win.
  • 1983 National Championship: North Carolina State vs Houston - NC State guard Dereck Whittenburg launches a desperation shot from 30-feet out that falls short of the basket; but Lorenzo Charles makes a miraculous play, catching the ball in mid-air and dunking it at the buzzer for a thrilling 54-52 upset over Houston.

In addition to individual clips, the channel boasts great playlists including iconic moments, buzzer beaters, Final Four highlights, greatest upsets, best dunks and more. To help basketball fans get ready for the 2013 tournament, the NCAA and T3Media will release new clips and playlists in the weeks leading up to the tournament tipoff on March 19. Additional NCAA championship sports will be added to the channel over time.
