The beards will be back! This morning, NBC's TODAY kicked of its second annual No-Shave TODAY series, and Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Willie Geist and Carson Daly once again relinquished their razors. Throughout November, THE TODAY SHOW anchors will grow beards to raise awareness for men's health issues. Last year, the show raised more than $100,000 in donations for the cause.
The month of November is nationally dedicated to men's health, and a number of programs, including the popular Movember initiative, bring attention to prostate and testicular cancer. In support of these causes, the men of THE TODAY SHOW including anchors, hosts, and many producers and crew members, will forego shaving for the entire month. Last year, Lauer and Roker bravely underwent prostate exams live on the air in effort to encourage cancer screening and early detection. This year Geist and Daly will take action in the fight against testicular cancer, the leading cancer in men ages 15 to 35. On Thursday, November 20, they will undergo testicular exams live on air. More than 8,800 new cases of testicular cancer will be diagnosed in 2014, and if detected early, it is over 95% curable. TODAY viewers can get involved in several ways by sharing stories, anecdotes and photos and participating in social media using #NoShaveTODAY. TODAY has also launched the No-Shave TODAY College Challenge.
