NBC's THE VOICE Retains 94% of Last Week's Ratings

NBC won Monday in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key measures, dominating the 9 and 10 p.m. hours among the Big 4 networks 18-49.

"The Voice" (3.4 rating, 9 share in adults 18-49, 12.1 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET,) retained 94% of last week's 3.6 in these preliminary fast-national ratings in 18-49 and 92% of last week's 3.7/10 in official nationals, despite competition last night from the series finale of CBS's "How I Met Your Mother." In total viewers, last night's "Voice" retained 94% of last week's official-national 12.847 million..

"The Voice" grew significantly throughout its two hours, with this track: 2.9, 3.3, 3.5, 3.8. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" increased by 0.9 of a point or 31% in 18-49 and by 17% or more than 1.8 million persons in total viewers (to 12.9 million from 11.0 million). For its second hour from 9-10 p.m., "The Voice" won among the Big 4 in 18-49 by a 44% margin (with a 3.6 rating vs. an average 2.5 for CBS's second-place hour of comedy - the debut of "Friends With Better Lives" and "Mom").

"The Blacklist" (2.8/8 in adults 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) is currently matching the show's highest 18-49 rating since Feb. 24. In total viewers, this is currently the most-watched "Blacklist" since Dec. 2, pending updates. "The Blacklist" is a dominant #1 in The Hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key ratings measure, and, with ABC's "Castle" in rebroadcast, "Blacklist" topped the ABC-CBS drama competition combined in every key demographic. Versus NBC's averages in the time period last season, "The Blacklist" is up 40% in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.0, L+SD, non-sports) and up 98% in total viewers (11.393 million vs. 5.746 million).

L+3 Time-Shifting: In "live plus three day" Nielsens, last week's "Blacklist" grew by 1.74 rating points, its biggest L+3 increase since Nov. 11, to a 4.66 rating from a 2.82, a gain of 62%. In total viewers, The March 24 "Blacklist" grew by 5.3 million viewers (to 16.1 million from 10.8 million), its biggest increase since Jan. 27.


In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.1/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.9/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.1/5.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

Led by the #1 show of the week on the Big 4 networks, Monday's "The Voice," NBC has tied for #2 in adults 18-49 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX for the Primetime ratings week of March 24-30, averaging a 1.5 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall for the week, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC has now ranked #1, tied for #1, #2 or tied for #2 among the Big 4 nets in 18-49 for each of the last eight weeks in a row (including Olympic weeks), up from finishes of #4 or tied for #3 among those nets for all eight of those weeks one year ago.

Thru the season's 27th week (thru March 23), NBC has won 75 nights in adults 18-49 among the Big 4 networks, more NBC nightlong wins than for any full September-to-May season since 2003-04 (83 wins).

The Monday edition of "The Voice" ranked #1 among the week's Primetime programs on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, while Tuesday's "Voice" finished #5 and Monday's "The Blacklist" tied for #7

Between them, the two editions of "The Voice" accounted for the #1 rating of the week on the Big 4 in adults and women 18-49, adults and women 25-54, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

Through 27 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie), all key adult-female demos and other key measures. It's the first time NBC has ranked #1 in 18-49 this late in the season in 10 years (since the 2003-04 season).

NBC's 2.9 rating in adults 18-49 is the network's top average at this point in the season in four years (since a 2.9 in 2009-10).

Versus one year ago, NBC is up 21% season to date in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.4).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.9 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 27 weeks into the season in nine years (since 2004-05, 10.0 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 39% season to date in total viewers (9.9 million vs. 7.1 million).
