NBC's BLACKLIST Grows +88% in L+3; Network Ties for #2 in Total Viewers

NBC has tied for #2 among total viewers for the primetime ratings week of Feb. 8-14, generating a 1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" results from Nielsen Media Research. Week to week, NBC is up +20% in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.0 for the week of Feb. 1-7) and up +14% in total viewers (5.1 million vs. 4.5 million).

Leading NBC's week were the top-30 rankings among primetime programs on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 for Wednesday's "Chicago P.D." (tied for #13), Wednesday's "SVU" (#15), Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #16) and Tuesday's "Chicago Med" (tied for #27).

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.1 of a rating point of #1 behind Super Bowl-boosted CBS in adults 18-49 and is tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-34 and #1 outright among those nets in women 18-34.

NBC's total-viewer average of 8.803 million is the network's highest at this point in a season without a SUPER BOWL or Olympic boost since 2006-07 (9.7 million).

Primetime averages for the week of Feb. 8-14 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 1.6 rating, 5 share; Fox, 1.4/5; ABC, 1.3/4; NBC, 1.2/4 and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 9.4 million; NBC, 5.1 million; ABC, 5.1 million; Fox, 4.8 million; and CW, 1.7 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: CBS, 2.5/8; NBC, 2.4/8; Fox, 2.1/7; ABC, 1.8/6; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.7 million; NBC, 8.8 million; ABC, 6.6 million; Fox, 6.4 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Feb. 8-14:

Monday

"Superstore" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in adults 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.4) and grew +6% in total viewers (5.2 million vs. 4.9 million) to a three-week high (best since Jan. 18, 5.7 million). "Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "Superstore" grew by +29% going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" ratings in 18-49 (1.43 to 1.85) and by 856,000 viewers overall (5.2 million to 6.0 million). The +0.42 increase in 18-49 is "Superstore's" biggest L+3 lift to date. "Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: To date, "Superstore" has grown in L+7 vs. L+SD by +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.68 to a 2.12) and more than 1.0 million viewers overall (5.8 million to 6.9 million). Upscale: "Superstore generates a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 112 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"Telenovela" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m. ET) grew +13% or 0.1 of a point week to week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and +9% versus last week in total viewers (3.3 million vs. 3.1 million) to a three-week best (best since Jan. 18, 3.9 million). L+3: "Telenovela" grew by +18% going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" ratings in 18-49 (0.90 to 1.06) and by 398,000 viewers overall (3.3 million to 3.7 million). L+7: "Telenovela" has increased by +21% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.15 to a 1.39) and 720,000 viewers overall (4.1 million to 4.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Telenovela" has generated a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 117 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"The Biggest Loser 17" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) gained +10% or 0.1 of a rating point week to week in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.0) and +18% in total viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.2 million), to deliver the show's most-watched episode since its season premiere Jan. 4 (3.9 million). L+3: "Loser" grew by +28% in 18-49 (1.13 to 1.45) and 913,000 viewers (3.8 million to 4.7 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Loser" has increased by +40% this season going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 (1.10 to 1.54) and by 1.2 million viewers overall (3.6 million to 4.8 million). Upscale: "Loser" delivers a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 114 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

Tuesday

"Hollywood Game Night" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the previous week's 18-49 rating in adults 18-49 and grew +7% in adults 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.4). "HGN" ranked #2 in the time period among the Big 4 networks in total viewers and adults 25-54.

"Chicago Med" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.6) to double NBC's score in the slot on the same night one year earlier (1.6 vs. 0.8 for comedies). In total viewers, "Med" was up +188% versus the year-ago audience (7.019 million vs. 2.437 million). L+3: "Med" increased by +37% in 18-49 (1.63 to 2.24) and 2.2 million viewers (7.0 million to 9.2 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Chicago Med" has increased by +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.89 to a 2.68) and 2.7 million viewers overall (8.4 million to 11.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key measure, ranking #1 by a +38% margin among those nets in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.3 for CBS's #2 "Limitless"). "Fire" maintained its 1.8 rating for a fifth straight telecast and delivered its 21stconsecutive time-period win in 18-49 versus regular ABC-CBS competition in the 10-11 p.m. slot when in original, in a streak that dates back to February 2015. "Fire" was up +29% versus its ratings on the same night last year in both 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.4 on Feb. 10, 2015) and total viewers (8.1 million vs. 6.3 million). L+3: "Fire" grew by +45% in 18-49 (1.76 to 2.55) and 2.7 million viewers (8.1 million to 10.8 million) going from L+SD to L+3. "Fire" had the #1 L+3 lifts of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 (+0.79) and total viewers (+2.708 million). L+7: "Chicago Fire" has grown by +61% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.85 to a 2.97) and 3.6 million viewers overall (8.0 million to 11.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

NBC tied for #1 for the night in adults 18-49 and won outright in total viewers on the first Wednesday of the February sweep versus all-original competition on those networks. It's the first time NBC has earned a share of the Wednesday 18-49 lead with in-season original programming opposite all original Big 4 competition since Dec. 3, 2014.

"The Mysteries of Laura" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) matched its season high in 18-49 and its highest rating since the Feb. 25, 2015 telecast featuring guest star Erick McCormack. "Laura" grew +9% week to week in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.1) and +1% in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 6.8 million). "Laura" was up +20% versus the same night one year earlier in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.0 on Feb. 11, 2015) and by +19% in total viewers (6.933 million vs. 5.819 million). L+3: "Laura" increased by +26% in 18-49 (1.17 to 1.47) and more than 1.3 million viewers (6.9 million to 8.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "The Mysteries of Laura" has increased by +39% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.12 to a 1.56) and 1.8 million viewers overall (7.0 million to 8.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Laura" is delivering a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 108 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew +6% week to week in 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.8) and +4% in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 7.3 million), marking the second straight time an "SVU" telecast had increased in both categories. Versus the same night last year in 18-49, "SVU" was up +36% in 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.4 on Feb. 11, 2015) and +24% in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 6.1 million). This opening episode of an "SVU" - "P.D." crossover ranked #2 in the slot in adults 18-49, ahead of the CBS drama "Criminal Minds" (1.8). L+3: "SVU" grew by +59% in 18-49 (1.85 to 2.95) and 2.8 million viewers (7.6 million to 10.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3. In rating point, "SVU" generated its biggest L+3 18-49 lift (+1.10) since the conclusion of a three-part crossover on April 29, 2015 (+1.14), which boosted this episode to "SVU's" #2 L+3 rating of the season. The +59% lift in 18-49 is the biggest percentage increase of the night on the Big 4. L+7: "Law & Order: SVU" has grown by +68% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.69 to a 2.84) and 3.0 million viewers overall (7.2 million to 10.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (2.0/7 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) increased by +18% versus the prior week in 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.7) and by +15% in total viewers (8.3 million vs. 7.2 million), to equal the show's highest 18-49 rating in 15 months (since Nov. 12, 2014, 2.2). This concluding episode of an "SVU" - "P.D." crossover won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures. "P.D." has now finished #1 or tied for #1 in 18-49 versus the time period's regular ABC and CBS drama competition with last 29 regular-slot originals, dating back to November 2014. The Feb. 10 telecast was up +30% versus the same night a year earlier in 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.4 on Feb. 11, 2015) and up +26% in total viewers (8.3 million vs. 6.6 million). L+3: "P.D." increased by +54% in 18-49 (1.97 to 3.04) and 3.3 million viewers (8.3 million to 11.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. The 3.334 million lift in total viewers is the biggest of the night on the Big 4. "P.D." locked up its top L+3 A18-49 rating (3.04) and lift (+1.07) since the conclusion of a three-part crossover on Nov. 12, 2014 (3.31 rating, +1.12 lift). L+7: "Chicago P.D." has grown by +68% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.57 to a 2.63) and 3.4 million viewers overall (6.8 million to 10.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"You, Me and the Apocalypse" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of a point of the previous week's 0.9 in 18-49, despite this week facing ABC competition that was up +140% versus last week in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 1.0). The prior week's "You, Me and the Apocalypse" added more than 300,000 full-episode views (P2+) in seven days on NBC.com and Hulu (311,931). L+3: "Apocalypse" grew by +21% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.76 to 0.92) and by 552,000 persons in total viewers (3.0 million vs. 3.5 million). Upscale: "Apocalypse" is capturing a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 113 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

"The Blacklist" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) retained +93% of the prior week's rating in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.5) and 99% in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 6.5 million) versus ABC competition that was up +91% versus the prior week (2.1 vs. 1.1) and up +200% versus two weeks ago (2.1 vs. 0.7). "Blacklist" improved the slot +17% versus NBC's average last season (1.4 vs. 1.2, L+SD non-sports) and +21% in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 5.3 million). "Blacklist" has remained in the 1.4-1.6 range in 18-49 with each of its last 13 telecasts. L+3: In L+3, "Blacklist" was up +3% week to week (2.60 vs. 2.53), despite the return this week of "Scandal" competition. "Blacklist" increased by +88% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.38 to 2.60) and 4.2 million persons in total viewers (6.4 million vs. 10.6 million). The +88% is the biggest lift going from L+SD to L+3 for any Big 4 telecast for the week to date. L+7: "The Blacklist" has grown by +96% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.52 to a 2.98) and 4.9 million viewers overall (7.1 million to 12.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Blacklist" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 149 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

"Shades of Blue" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.), despite ABC competition that was up +50% versus the prior week in the time period in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.2) and up +157% versus two weeks earlier (1.8 vs. 0.7). "Shades" improved the time period by +38% versus NBC's regular-program season average in the slot before "Shades" (1.1 vs. 0.8, L+SD excluding sports and specials) and +35% in total viewers (5.399 million vs. 3.993 million). L+3: "Shades" grew by +83% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.09 to 1.99) and by 3.3 million persons in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 8.7 million), for the #2 gain over the first four nights of the week on the Big 4 in 18-49 percentage, behind only the +88% for "The Blacklist." The prior week's "Shades of Blue" added more than 750,000 full-episode views (P2+) in six days on NBC.com and Hulu (752,702). L+7: "Shades of Blue" has grown by +82% in adult 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (1.46 to 2.65) and +4.4 million persons in total viewers (7.2 million vs. 11.6 million).

Friday

"Caught on Camera With Nick Cannon" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) captured a season high in total viewers, attracting the show's biggest overall audience since Dec. 26, 2014 (4.7 million). "Caught on Camera" was up week to week by +17% in total viewers (4.2 million vs. 3.6 million)

"Grimm" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) equaled its highest 18-49 rating since Nov. 6 (1.0 with the second "Grimm" of the season) and captured its #2 biggest overall audience of the season, trailing only the prior week's 4.4 million in total viewers. L+3: The previous week's "Grim" grew by +71% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.95 to 1.62) and 2.0 million persons in total viewers (4.4 million vs. 6.4 million). L+7: "Grimm" has increased by +92% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.90 to a 1.73) and 2.4 million viewers overall (3.8 million to 6.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7. "Dateline NBC" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew +11% from its first half-hour to its second in adults 18-49 (0.9 to 1.0), +8% in adults 25-54 (1.2 to 1.3) and +10% in total viewers (3.9 million to 4.3 million). L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" increased by +34% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.00 to 1.34) and 1.2 million persons in total viewers (4.9 million vs. 6.1 million). L+7: Friday's "Dateline NBC" has grown by +29% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.05 to a 1.35) and more than 1.0 million viewers overall (4.9 million to 6.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. The Jan. 29 "Dateline NBC ," featuring the "Making a Murderer" case, reported "Dateline's" highest L+7 rating in 18-49 (1.80), in three years (since Dec. 14, 2012, the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings). Upscale: "Dateline" delivers a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 109 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

Saturday

"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +14% week to week in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7) and +17% in total viewers (4.6 million vs. 4.0 million).

"SNL Vintage" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the Oct. 8, 1988 telecast of "Saturday Night Live" hosted by Tom Hanks with musical guest Keith Richards) ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key ratings measures.

Sunday

NBC won Sunday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, led by the #1 show of the night on those nets, "The Tonight Show Valentine's Day Special."

"Dateline NBC" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) grew +13% from its first half-hour to its second in adult 18-49 rating (0.8 to 0.9).

An encore of "An SNL Valentine" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) tied for #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in adults 25-54 and grew +11% from half-hour to half-hour in 18-49 (0.9 to 1.0).

"The Tonight Show Valentine's Day Special" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and won the time period among the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and other key measures. The special topped "Tonight's" season average for regular telecasts by +48% in 18-49 (1.44 vs. 0.97, L+SD) and +44% in total viewers (5.051 million vs. 3.508 million), to deliver NBC's highest total-viewer result in the slot, excluding live news and sports and the Golden Globes, since April 12, 2015 (5.9 million). The special grew +23% from its first half-hour to its fourth in adults 18-49 (1.3 to 1.6) and by +31% in adults 25-54 (1.6 to 2.1).
