Today, NBC announced that it has given a pilot order to DRAMA HIGH, from executive producers Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights," "Parenthood") and Jeffrey Seller (producer of the Broadway sensation HAMILTON). Jeffrey Seller and Flody Suarez signed a producing deal with UTV in 2016. As a TV producer, this would be Seller's first scripted series.

Based on the book "Drama High" by Michael Sokolove and life rights of Lou Volpe. Inspired by a true story, "Drama High" introduces us to an extraordinary working class high school drama department and the incredible students who come alive under a passionate teacher and family man whose dedication to the program galvanizes the entire town. From the Tony Award-winning producer of "Hamilton" (Jeffrey Seller) and the Emmy Award-winning executive producer of "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" (Jason Katims).

This is not a series order, but a pilot order. NBC will be making decisions on which pilots will be ordered to series as we get closer to the May Upfronts.
