America's most-watched evening newscast averaged 8.32 million total viewers for the week of April 4, outperforming ABC by +387,000 (+5%) and CBS by +1.56 million viewers (+23%). This marks the fourth straight week that Nightly has topped ABC by at least 300,000 viewers.
Nightly posted gains across the board year-to-year, while both ABC and CBS saw losses in all categories. Versus the same week last season, the NBC broadcast was up in total viewers (+4%, +294,000), A25-54 viewers (+5%, +90,000), and A18-49 viewers (+8%, +106,000). Week-to-week, the NBC broadcast saw higher advantages over ABC in total viewers (by 9%), A25-54 viewers (by 13%), and A18-49 viewers (by 47%). Nightly has been #1 in total viewers for nine consecutive weeks and 39 of the 42 weeks since Holt was named anchor. Season-to-date, Nightly is the #1 evening news program in total viewers, A25-54 and A18-49 viewers. Among the A25-54 and A18-49 demos, the NBC broadcast has been ranked #1 for 37 consecutive weeks.
