In case you missed, forgot, and or didn't commit to memory last week's NASHVILLE...Teddy really doesn't know what's good for him- or how to do his job, for that matter. Not only is he under investigation for being involved (give or take) with a prostitute, but he's willing to go under the table and illegally obtain government money to help said prostitute escape and, in turn, save himself. This poor boy doesn't know which way is up.

Rayna and Deacon however, at least for the time being, certainly do. And their happy-family moment with the girls could not have been more adorable or potentially tear-jerking, especially with Deacon's confession of his cancer to Maddie immediately following.

And just when I think I have everything figured out, NASHVILLE's writers pull a fast one on me. Sadie, confronted by her abusive ex, accidentally pulls the trigger on her gun and kills him, just as Luke pulls up.

Tonight's episode starts just hours from where we left off. Sadie is being booked at the police station- and for at least a quick minute the victim has become the murdurer. Her first (and only) call- to Rayna- has her in tears. Leaving Deacon behind with the exhausted, shaken, and, thankfully, still sleeping girls, she rushes off- just hours before the baby shower she's planning for Juliette Barnes. Pretty uneventful day, huh?

The comic relief surprisingly comes from Juliette's raging pregnancy hormones. Whether it's meant to be annoying, stressful, or just plain Juliette- her anger and frustration (towards Avery and pretty much everything else) is hilarious. It's probably because we've sene so little of her recently- her outspoken, sometimes-too-loud, aggressive personality (pretty much on steroids with the baby on the way) is a nice distraction from the jealousy, shootings, and secrets everywhere else.

"I cannot believe she would choose to shoot someone on the day of my shower!" Point. Made.

To counter that ridiculousness/hilarity, Maddie has completely dropped the "Dad" act with Deacon and is running back to Teddy. Ironic, right? The moment Deacon is clean and honest, Maddie wants nothing more than (unknown to her) the mayor caught between blackmail and a prosititute.

The accusations (or rather, the uncertainty of the accusations) against Sadie are getting scarier by the minute. More focused on the fact that she was carrying an unlicensed handgun as opposed to the fact that her ex had violated a restraining order, the cops are right on her tail, intimidating her (and consequently, us) more and more by the minute. Taking refuge at Rayna's for the time being, she's understandbly a wreck. Much like Maddie, who refuses to come out of her room at Deacon's and- consequently- forms a very unlikely and probably temporary, but nonetheless nice-to-see moment between Teddy and Deacon.

Rayna finally makes it to Juliette's party- in less than perfect condition- only to be told that it was cancelled due to nobody, including the hostess herself, showing up. The selfish Juliette we know and love makes a reappearance and, in true primetime drama fashion, a screaming match between Rayna and Juliette leads to her water breaking.

They're not the only ones having it out. Gunnar and Scarlett have their much overdue jealousy screaming match. Gunnar is clearly still in love with Scarlett, and up until now I thought Scarlett had moved on- but it appears it may not be so. I've always liked his couple together- they're perfect for each other. And now that ex-girlfriends, crazy mothers, sort of children, and anxiety issues are out of the picture, it's a the perfect opportunity for these two to try again. Oh, except for that whole doctor-boyfriend thing.

In a huge breath of relief, charges aren't being filed against Ms. Sadie Stone. With nothing more than a small misdeamnor charge, Sadie is leaving Nashville and headed home... potentially permanently. I'm not sure if this is the end of Sadie's multi-episode arc (in which case we're sadly saying goodbye to the fabulous and wonderful Laura Benanti), or if the writers have something else up their sleeves concerning one of the best new characters this show has seen in a while.

Teddy is taking a page directly out of his father-in-law's handbook, unfortuanately. Blackmail definitely looks good on Teddy- though that's not necessarily a positive comment. It looks like he'll get away with his prostitution secret, for now at least. In Nashville, though, these things just *tend* to come back around and oh, you know, bite you in the ass.

What was the most shocking part of tonight's episode? And what in the world is going to happen to Sadie Stone? Will we see her again...soon? Ever? Let me know in the comments or @WendiReichstein.
