Oprah Winfrey has revived her popular “Oprah’s Favorite Things” special, in which she reveals her must-haves for this holiday season, and pulls off a surprise giveaway to a group of deserving military spouses who were nominated and became finalists for the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® (MSOY) awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The two-hour special episode will air Sunday, November 18th on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network from 8-10 pm ET/PT.

The Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® award was founded by Military Spouse magazine in 2008. The award honors military spouses from all branches of service and all ranks. The merit-based award recognizes the contributions, sacrifices and unwavering commitment of the 1.1 million military spouses. The Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® nominees are chosen based on their contributions to community change, volunteer efforts, personal sacrifice, professional pursuits and specific efforts to support the military community.

“The Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year Award® program is delighted to be chosen to help identify 30 extraordinary military spouses to be honored on ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things 2012.’ We cannot imagine a more deserving group of military spouses than the ones who are representing their branches and changing the entire community each and every day for the better,” said Babette Maxwell, Executive Editor for Military Spouse magazine.
