Southern Comforts, starring Michael Learned (The Waltons, One Slight Hitch) & Granville Van Dusen (The Memoirs of Abraham Lincoln, Darwin in Malibu, Jonny Quest) opened Friday, Oct 21st in at The Falcon Theatre in Burbank, CA with an enthusiastic response from the audience that included Lee Meriwether, Bonnie Franklin.

Written by Kathleen Clark and directed by Jules Aaron, Southern Comforts is the romantic comedy hit from Off-Broadway that follows the enchanting romance between New Jersey widower Gus (Van Dusen) and Southern widow Amanda (Learned). While waiting out a thunderstorm, their opposite natures collide to create a sweet and intoxicating love story with perceptive humor and unpredictable tribulation, proving that it's never too late to find the love of your life.

The opening night performance coincided with the Entertainment Weekly announcement that the four-time EMMY winner, Learned, would be temporarily stepping into the role of Katherine Chancellor on the highly rated daytime drama, The Young & the Restless, while veteran actress Jeanne Cooper takes some time off. Learned is familiar with the daytime schedule, having appeared on General Hospital, and before that, One Life to Live and All My Children. She will be pulling double duty during the run of Southern Comforts, as she begins filming of Y&R this week.
