Merritt Patterson Swaps Roles in PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Spin-Off RAVENSWOOD; Elizabeth Whitson Departs Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Merritt Patterson (KYLE X/Y, SUPERNATURAL), originally slated to play "Tess" in the Pretty Little Liars spin-off RAVENSWOOD, will now be playing Elizabeth Whitson's role "Olivia". Whitson is departing the series. No replacement for "Tess" has been cast.

"As we dug deeper into the mythology of RAVENSWOOD we decided to re-conceive the character of Olivia," executive producers for RAVENSWOOD told THR. "Merritt Patterson seemed to be the best choice for the direction the character is now headed."

Patterson will be starring opposite Brett Dier, who plays Olivia's twin brother Luke, as well as Nicole Gale Anderson, Britne Oldford and Tyler Blackburn.

RAVENSWOOD is aiming to begin filming next month in New Orleans.

Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty and Leslie Morgenstein, RAVENSWOOD will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of "Pretty Little Liars"), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town's mysterious and terrible history before it's too late for each of them.

"Season 4 of "Pretty Little Liars" will premiere Tuesday, June 11, on ABC Family, as the Liars strive to make sense of the mysterious "Red Coat" and what plans he or she may have in store for them.

"Pretty Little Liars" and RAVENSWOOD are produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television and are executive produced by I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Leslie Morgenstein and Joseph Dougherty.
