MIDNIGHT IN PARIS Among Winners of 2012 Writers Guild of America Awards

Woody Allen was given the Writers Guild of America's best original screenplay award for his Parisian journey through time, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. The honor marks the fifth WGA award for the director who has won in the past for "Annie Hall," "Broadway Danny Rose," "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Crimes and Misdemeneanors." This year's nomination was his 20th. 

'The Descendants' picked up an award for best adapted screenplay for Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, based on the novel by Kaui Hart Hemming. The award is the third WGA for Payne who has also won for 'Elections' and 'Sideways'. 

In TV, "Modern Family" once again was honored for writing on a comedy series, and Steven Levitan and Jeffrey Richman won a episodic comedy award for the show's episode 'Caught in the Act'.  "Breaking Bad" and "Homeland" also received two trophies each.
