"Meet the Press" was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program on August 18, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast drew 2.460 million viewers, topping This Week by +174,000, The Face the Nation hour by +655,000, and Fox News Sunday by +1,571,000.

MTP delivered an additional 960,000 total viewers and 460,000 A25-54 viewers with rebroadcasts - 381,000 total viewers and 201,000 A25-54 viewers on the network and 579,000 total viewers and 259,000 A25-54 viewers on MSNBC.

In Washington, DC, MTP averaged 51,000 total viewers (2.0/6 HH), +104% ahead of FOX News Sunday's 25,000 (1.3/4), +155% more than The Face the Nation hour's 20,000 (1.1/3), and +264% ahead of This Week's 14,000 viewers (0.7/2).

Highlights:

- MTP averaged 2.460 million total viewers, +8% (+174,000) more than This Week's 2.286 million, +36% (+655,000) more than The Face The Nation hour's 1.805 million, and +177% (+1,571,000) ahead of FOX News Sunday's 889,000.
- MTP was the only broadcast with week-to-week growth in total viewers (+11%, or +236,000)
- In homes, MTP delivered a 1.9 rating and 5 share, ahead of This Week 's 1.6/5, The Face the Nation hour's 1.3/4, and FOX News Sunday's 0.7/2.
- In rating A25-54, MTP delivered a 0.6 rating, tied with This Week's 0.6, +2 tenths ahead of The Face The Nation hour's 0.4, and +3 tenths more than FOX News Sunday's 0.3.
- MTP averaged 657,000 A25-54 viewers, +3,000 more than This Week's 654,000, +124,000 more than The Face The Nation hour's 533,000, and +349,000 more than FOX News Sunday's 308,000.

Sunday's edition of "Meet the Press" featured a discussion on "stop and frisk" with NY Police Commissioner Ray Kelly; a reaction from Trayvon Martin's mother Sybrina Fulton, the family's lawyer Benjamin Crump, and President and CEO of the NAACP, Ben Jealous; a discussion on the violence in Egypt and America's response with NBC's Richard Engel, Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH); Dean of the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins Vali Nasr, and Senior Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center Robin Wright; and a political roundtable with Former White House Press Secretary now an NBC News Political Contributor Robert Gibbs, Editor of the National Review Rich Lowry, Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD), and NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd.
