The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that a spin-off of the hit FOX comedy MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN is in the works at Sony Pictures Television, nearly 20 years after the sitcom signed off the air.

The original show starred then unknowns Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Faustino. The new incarnation will center on Faustino's character, Bud Bundy. No details have been revealed as to whether other cast members will return for the project.

Sagal, who received four nominations for her role as Peg Bunday, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week, where she celebrated the honor with her former castmates. She currently stars on the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, for which she won the Golden Globe in 2011.

Married with Children featured a dysfunctional family living in a fictional Chicago suburb. The show, notable for being the first prime-time television series to air on Fox, ran from April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997. It was created by Michael G. Moyeand Ron Leavitt.

The series' 11-season, 259-episode run makes it the longest-lasting live-action sitcom on the FOX network. In 2008, the show placed #94 on Entertainment Weekly's "New TV Classics" list.
