Laura Dern Joins the Fockers

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that stage and screen star Laura Dern will be the newest member in the world of Focker, as she will be joining the cast of the latest "Meet the Parent's" sequel.

The movie will feature the return of everyone's Focker favorites, including Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson.  Jessica Alba will additionally be appearing in the film. The movie will be directed by Paul Weitz under the Working Title "Little Fockers" for Universal and Tribeca Productions

In the film, Dern will plays the headmistress of the elementary school attended by the Fockers' children.

The film is produced by Jane Rosenthal and Jay Roach and is overseen by Universal's Tracy Falco and Maradith Frenkel.  It features a screenplay by John Hamburg (rewritten from Larry Stuckey's original script). 

Dern has appeared on stage as Charlene Loody in The Palace of Amateurs at Minetta Lane Theatre, Brooklyn Laundry, Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Dern has acted in such films as Smooth Talk (1985), Blue Velvet (1986), Fat Man and Little Boy (1988), Wild at Heart (1990), Jurassic Park (1993 plus sequels) and October Sky (1999). She received critical acclaim for her performance in the 1991 film Rambling Rose, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress - Series, Miniseries or Television Film for her portrayal of Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris in the film Recount (2008).
