Do you hear the people sing? According to reports, tens of thousands have this week, as the Les Miserables: Highlights from the Motion Picture Soundtrack has now hit #1 on both Amazon and on iTunes.

As we reported earlier this week, according to Billboard.com, "Les Miserables: Highlights From the Motion Picture Soundtrack" is zooming up the charts and on track to hit the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart by next week. The album is estimated to reach 100,000 copies sold by December 30.

Released just four days before the film's opening on Christmas day, sixty percent of the soundtrack sales came from digital downloads, inclding Amazon MP3 which offered the recording at a sale price of $5.

The Republic Records album features 20 songs from the film, including the current top seller, Anne Hathaway's version of "I Dreamed a Dream". The single sold 20,000 downloaded copies and is currently number 25 on iTunes and 29 on Amazon.

Helmed by The King's Speech's Academy Award-winning director, Tom Hooper, the Working Title/Cameron Mackintosh production stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, LES MISERABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, Sacrifice and redemption-a timeless Testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for Decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
