Stand-up comedian Kevin Pollack has officially joined the ranks of CBS' Beverly Hills COP.

Pollack joins Brandon T. Jackson for the pilot from Sony Pictures Television. The actor will portray 'Rodney Daloof,' the loud-mouth in-house attorney for the Beverly Hills Police Department.

The project, from THE SHIELD creator Shawn Ryan, is being billed as a sequel to the trilogy of films that featured sharp talking detective Axel Foley (Murphy) in his escapades througout Los Angeles. The series will follow "Axel's blue-collar police officer son, Aaron (Jackson), who helps take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father."

Should the pilot be picked up for a series order, it's rumored that Murphy would appear in multiple episodes. Murphy is also executive producing.
