As BWW reported earlier this week, NBC's TODAY show will soon have to decide how to deal with the next few months as current anchor Savannah Guthrie goes on maternity leave later in the summer. The NY Daily News reported that former Today anchor Katie Couric could reunite with Matt Lauer as Guthrie's fill in. Viewers of the show will remember that Couric left "Today" back on '06 to do the evening news on CBS. When that didn't work out she switched to ABC in '11 for her day time talk show.

Today ET reports that Couric responded to reports of her Today show return during the New York premiere of her new documentary Fed Up on Tuesday.

"We'll see," said the 57-year-old. "I'm pretty busy right now with this documentary, being the global news anchor at Yahoo, finishing up my day time show ...and my daughter is graduating from high school. And I'm getting married!"

She added, "That's very flattering, and I love my friends at NBC and it's very flattering, even the speculation."

Asked whether she could confirm the reports, Savannah Guthrie commented, "She's one of the names I've heard, and I think it would be great. I love Katie. I'm one of the original Katie fans. She's one of the reasons I got into this business."
