John Leguizamo to Star in ABC Comedy Based on His Life

According to TV Guide, John Leguizamo is set to star in an ABC comedy show loosely based his life. The show is currently untitled.

In the comedy project, Leguizamo plays a husband and father trying to balance his upper-class lifestyle on New York's Upper West Side with his friends and life in the Bronx, where he grew up. Other characters will include Leguizamo's mother and grandfather.

Family Guy's Chris Sheridan is writing the project and will also executive produce with Leguizamo, ABC Studios, Mandeville and The Collective.

ABC recently passed on the pilot Kings of Van Nuys, which was also centered on Leguizamo.

Leguizamo has appeared on TV in The Kill Point, ER, House of Buggin' and more. His film credits include voice work for the Ice Age films. His next big screen project is Ride Along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

Leguizamo has appeared on Broadway in his own productions Ghetto Klown, Sexaholix and Freak, as well as 2008's revival of American Buffalo. Leguizamo's Off-Broadway credits include Spic-O-Rama and Mambo Mouth, which he penned, and A Midsummer Night's Dream and La Puta Vida Trilogy.
