As first reported on Deadline.com, actor and comedian John Leguizamo has just signed a development deal with ABC and ABC Studios to star and serve as executive producer of a TV comedy based on his "professional, personal and family life in New York City"

The actor has appeared on TV's ER and The Kill Point as well as the 2006 CBS pilot Edison. No writer has been named for the upcoming project. Leguizamo will serve as executive producer along with his manager Jeff Golenberg, David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

Emmy and Obie Award winner John Leguizamo is currently on tour with his fifth one-man show GHETTO KLOWN following a successful run on Broadway. The actor received a Drama Desk award for his performance.

GHETTO KLOWN is the next chapter in John Leguizamo's hugely popular personal and professional story. It follows in the unabashed, uncensored, and uninhibited tradition of his Mambo Mouth, Spic-O-Rama, Freak, and Sexaholix...a Love Story. In Leguizamo's trademark style, the piece explodes with energy, leading audiences on a fever-pitch adventure and heating up the stage with vivid accounts of where he's been and the colorful characters who have populated his life. Leguizamo takes audiences from his adolescent memories in Queens to the early days of his acting career during the outrageous 80s avant-garde theatre scene, and on to the sets of major motion pictures and his roles opposite some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Leguizamo received an Emmy Award for the televised version of Freak on HBO.
