Jennifer Zetlan to Step in for Kiera Duffy in NO. 42 IN THE ALPS at Carnegie Hall, 4/27

Carnegie Hall today announced that soprano Jennifer Zetlan has agreed to step in for Kiera Duffy on Sunday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m., performing the U.S. premiere of composer Richard Ayres's No. 42 In the Alps with contemporary music group Alarm Will Sound at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. Ms. Duffy is unable to appear due to illness.

The April 27 program, entitled (post)folk, is part of David Lang's six-concert collected stories series, which examines different modes of storytelling in a wide variety of music. Ayres's work incorporates yodeling and other folk idioms to articulate the tale of a young plane crash survivor. The rest of theApril 27 program remains as announced, with world premiere works by guitarist / composer Kaki King (Other Education) and composer Kate Moore (The Art of Levitation), plus Donnacha Dennehy's Grá agus Bás with vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird.

Soprano Jennifer Zetlan is swiftly garnering recognition for her artistry and captivating stage presence. She has debuted on the stages of The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Florida Grand Opera. On the concert stage, she has performed with the New York Philharmonic, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony, The Juilliard Orchestra and has been heard at Carnegie Hall in recital and with the Oratorio Society of New York, Musica Sacra, and the New York Youth Symphony.

Ms. Zetlan opened the 2013-2014 season at The Metropolitan Opera singing the role of Rebecca in the U.S. premiere of Nico Muhly's Two Boys. She also sang Mozart's Requiem with the Oratorio Society of New York and Handel's Messiah with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Zetlan returned to Seattle Opera after great success last season, this time as Gilda in Rigoletto. She closes the season in May at the Lexington Philharmonic, performing Golijov's Three Songs for Soprano and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.

Ms. Zetlan has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician with the Aspen Music Festival, New York Festival of Song, Alexander Paley Music Festival in Richmond, VA, Foothills Chamber Music Festival in Winston-Salem, NC, and The Artist Series of Sarasota. Committed to performing new works, she sang at the 2007 Opera America New Works Showcase, participated in New York City Opera's VOX Showcase of American Composers in 2008 and 2009 and is frequently involved with the new works program co-sponsored by The Metropolitan Opera and Lincoln Center Theater.
