Actress Jennifer Morrison, who portrays Emma Swan on the popular ABC drama series ONCE UPON A TIME, turned to Facebook today to announce her departure from the show. Read the post in full below:

As I reached the end of my 6 year contract on ONCE UPON A TIME, I was faced with a significant decision. ABC, Eddy Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz very generously invited me to continue as a series regular. After very careful consideration, I have decided that creatively and personally, it is time for me to move on.

Emma Swan is one my favorite characters that I have ever played. My 6 years on ONCE UPON A TIME has changed my life in the most beautiful ways. I am absolutely blown away by the passion and commitment of the Oncer fans. I am so honored to have been a central part of such a special show.

I will be forever grateful to Adam, Eddy, and ABC for giving me the gift of playing Emma Swan.

As I move on to other creative endeavors, I will continue to attend the fan conventions whenever my professional schedule allows. I always look forward meeting the fans.
If ABC Network does in fact order a season 7, I have agreed to appear in one episode, and I will most certainly continue to watch ONCE UPON A TIME. The creativity of the show runners has always inspired me, and I cannot wait to see the ways that they continue to develop and reinvent the show.

About Jennifer Morrison: Actress/director/producer Jennifer Morrison continues to have her plate full with numerous television and film projects. This past April, she launched her own production banner, Apartment 3C Productions. The first film under the new company is "Sun Dogs," which is currently in production. Morrison will sit at the helm to direct the comedy feature. The film is written by Anthony Tambakis and will star Michael Angarano, Melissa Benoist, Allison Janney and Ed O'Neill.

Morrison's first foray into directing was with her short film "Warning Labels," which imagined a world wherein everyone wears a warning label with their deepest secret. "Warning Labels" premiered in the short film program at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2015. She followed up this project by directing four individual music videos for the English alt-rock band Wild Wild Horses, which combined to create the "Demon Days" short film starring Rose McIver and Geoff Stults. The "Demon Days" short film has been viewed over 1,000,000 times to date.

Morrison recently filmed and co-produced the fantasy epic "Albion: The Enchanted Stallion," in Bulgaria. The film was directed by Castille Landon. Last year she wrapped the horror film, "Amityville: The Awakening," with Jennifer Jason Leigh. This next installment of the Amityville series was directed by Franck Khalfoun and will be released by The Weinstein Company. Morrison also filmed the Greg Mclean directed "The Darkness," opposite Kevin Bacon, which was released by Blumhouse Productions. She was seen in the independent film "Alpha Alert," starring opposite James Frain and Josh Steward and directed by British director Matthew Thompson. Morrison also co-starred in the independent feature film, "The List," opposite Patrick Fugit and directed by Harris Goldberg. Morrison was seen in the independent film adaptation of Neil LaBute's "Some Girl(s)," co-starring with Adam Brody, Emily Watson, Kristen Bell and Zoe Kazan and directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer. LaBute adapted the script as well as produced the film. She also appeared in the independent feature film "Knife Fight," directed by Bill Guttentag and produced by Guerrino De Luca, and was in the Lionsgate feature "Warrior," opposite Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton and directed by Gavin O'Connor.

Morrison's other film credits include J.J. Abrams' film "Star Trek," wherein she played Winona Kirk, Captain James Kirk's mother; the 20th Century FOX film "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie; Dreamworks' "Surviving Christmas," starring Ben Affleck and Christina Applegate; and the independent film "Flourish," which she starred in and produced.

Also adept at television, Morrison is best known for her work as Dr. Allison Cameron on Fox's critically acclaimed drama "House."
