Variety reports that Jeffrey Tambor, Steve Buscemi, Olga Kurylenko and Timothy Dalton are in final discussions to star in Armando Iannucci's political satire THE DEATH OF STALIN.
Toby Kebbel, Michael Palin, Simon Russel Beale, Paddy Considine and Andrea Riseborough will also star.

The project will be adapted from Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin's French graphic novel which was based on a true story. The film will follow "the chaotic days before the funerals of Stalin, the Nation's Father. Two days of fierce infighting for the supreme power, where manipulation, lust, BETRAYAL will be the weapons." Buscemi will portray Khrushchev, while Tambor will take on the role of Malenkov, and Dalton will play Zhukov.

Iannucci and David Schneider wrote the film which is described as a "scathing comedy." Nicolas Duval-Adassovsky, Laurent Zeitoun and Yann Zenou are producing for Quad Films and Main Journey. Shooting is expected to get underway on June 20th for a 2017 release.
