Jay Ryan to Star in The CW Drama Pilot BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

According to Deadline.com, Australian actor Jay Ryan has landed the starring role of 'The Beast' in the upcoming CW pilot BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Ryan will join previously announced cast member Kristin Kreuk in the project which is based on the 1980's CBS series. 

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is described as "a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist.? It centers on Catherine (Kreuk), a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow (Ryan), the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero."

The pilot will be directed by Gary Fleder with a script penned by Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper, who will also executive produce the series along with Ron Koslow.  

Jay Ryan starred for 3 years on the Australian soap opera 'Neighbours'. He was recently seen in the U.S. in a multi-arc guest starring role on Fox's 'Terra Nova'.
