America's leading crime and justice television channel, Investigation Discovery (ID) announced today that Glamour magazine will co-host ID's second annual INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE honors event on October 22 in New York City, to shed light on issues of crime and victims' rights. Celebrating women with similar missions to INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE, ID has teamed up with Glamour to recognize the remarkable efforts of Rosario Dawson, Marcia Gay Harden, Tamara Taylor and Stephanie March, as well as their charity partners, for their commitment to supporting victims and inspiring others. Launched in April 2013, INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE is ID's national public affairs campaign that is designed to inform a national dialog around such topics as violence against women, domestic abuse, social and civil rights, mental health, bullying and sexual assault, while inspiring viewers to take action and make a difference in the lives of others.

Dawson, Harden, Taylor and March will be honored at the second annual INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE awards ceremony in New York City on October 22. On newsstands now, the October issue of Glamour highlights the work of these incredible women with the following charities:

  • ROSARIO DAWSON (STUDIO ONE EIGHTY NINE FOUNDATION): Rosario Dawson founded Studio One Eighty Nine Foundation following an inspiring trip throughout Africa. The charitable e-commerce platform enables African female artists to build sustainable artisanal businesses. The site features Fashion Rising, a collection of African-designed goods with a portion of the proceeds supporting a global action to end violence against women.
  • MARCIA GAY HARDEN (HELP USA): Marcia Gay Harden works with HELP USA (Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged), a group that assists people who are homeless because of poverty, domestic violence or war-induced trauma. The charity provides affordable housing to prevent people from becoming homeless, as well as supportive services necessary to help people become and remain self-reliant.
  • TAMARA TAYLOR (THE RAPE FOUNDATION): Tamara Taylor is a supporter of The Rape Foundation, which administers free, 24-hour emergency medical treatment, forensic services, crisis counseling and longer-term psychotherapy for rape victims and sexually abused children. The Rape Foundation gives visibility to crimes that for too long have been viewed as "unspeakable" so that these abuses can be stopped.
  • STEPHANIE MARCH (SAFE HORIZON): Stephanie March has served as a board member at Safe HORIZON for over eight years. The organization promotes justice for victims of crime and abuse. Safe HORIZON envisions a society free of violence. Their mission is to lead the way by empowering victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking to move from crisis to confidence.

In addition to the celebrity honorees, ID and Glamour also celebrate the work of an "everyday" hero for inspiring a difference in her community. One winner will be selected from hundreds of nominees from a national call-to-action in a promotional page in the July 2014 issue of Glamour. Last year's winner, Nicole Russell, co-founded the Precious Dreams Foundation, which provides bedtime necessities to comfort children and the homeless, using positive reinforcement to empower them to focus on their dreams. At this year's honors event, Russell will pass the torch to the new "everyday" hero whose chosen charity will receive a $5,000 grant from ID.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to join forces with Glamour and its readers once again to honor the remarkable efforts of Rosario, Marcia, Tamara and Stephanie," said Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination American, AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL and Discovery Fit & Health. "Each of these women has given a voice to issues that are too commonly silenced in society, and it is through the commitment and dedication of both the celebrity honorees, as well as the everyday heroes that women everywhere are empowered and inspired to make this world a better place."

The multi-platform INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE public affairs campaign employs all of ID's promotional assets, including on-air, digital and social resources, and local and national events. On Sunday, October 19, ID bolsters its commitment to INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE by dedicating an entire day of ID's favorite series and specials that address these social injustices. Throughout the day, ID talent will chat live about ways the online community can take action and "Inspire A Difference"through a twitter chat @DiscoveryID (#InspireADifference). ID will also feature INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE PSAs featuring Paula Zahn, Tamron Hall, Charisma Carpenter, Michelle Ward and Alicia Kozakiewicz, in an effort to motivate viewers to take action with the support of leading national nonprofit partners such as the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC), the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), and Alicia's Project.
