A funny thing happened on the way to doing last week's recap: I somehow ended up trapped in an elevator and was taunted by Sue Slyvester - isn't that the craziest thing? Anyway, just to give you a little recap of last week: Spencer and Kitty both decided to join the glee club, due in no small part from words of wisdom from Sam and Rachel respectively. The Warblers performed "My Sharona" and "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" while their captain of the ship, Blaine was trapped in an elevator with his lovely ex, Kurt, and forced to kiss and make up (literally) by Sue herself. Wow, she certainly got around last week trapping people in elevators stuff.

While Kurt and Blaine were trapped in the Love Elevator, Rachel, with help from Sam, prepped the glee club for their first public performance, while also getting them more members to qualify to perform. Sam and Spencer had a chat in the locker room, which opened up the post modern teen and his desire to want to perform, but also his insecurity about being "too gay" and getting crap from his fellow teammates. Sam with a little nod to a former quarterback of the New Directions, convinced Spencer to join. Rachel in the meanwhile worked on getting Kitty back, who after revealing feeling betrayed by her "friends" who were transferred and didn't keep in touch, joins and helps Rachel find Sue's weakness in her "feeling" playlist on her computer.

After a trio of performances that includes "Father Figure", "All Out of Love", and "It Must Have Been Love", Sue is left emotionally vulnerable and chooses the New Directions as the victors with Vocal Adrenaline in second and the Warblers in third. The New Directions celebrate, Klaine are friends once more, and Vocal Adrenaline continues to resent Will - all in a week's work on Glee. This week, it's all about Burt Bacharach and his wonderful and melodic catalog of music - which I had the pleasure of hearing Laura Dreyfuss (Madison) sing parts of in Kyle Riabko (SPRING AWAKENING, HAIR)'s celebration of Burt's music in WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT last year at New York Theatre Workshop. This week, what the Glee world needs now is Burt and love.

Here's to you, Burt!

9:00pm: Samchel is continuing to sizzle, but is that because he cares for or because he's hynotized. Oh wait, here comes "I'll Never Fall in Love Again".

9:03pm: I'll never forget hearing "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" in PROMISES, PROMISES with Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes. So adorable. As is this. #awwsamchel

9:04pm: Brittany's mother is Paulette from LEGALLY BLONDE, Ms. Jennifer Coolidge herself! Apparently, Steven Hawkin is Brittany's real father. Hm, that's interesting.

9:12pm: The diva has arrived - Mercedes Jones is back, and she's there for Rachel, who she wants to get back up on stage. What better way to inspire than with a little tune? And since this is Burt Bacharach Week - "Baby, It's You" by the Shirelles is a perfect divalicious number to do it!

9:14pm: Brittany is hiring Artie to plan her wedding to Santana.. because apparently Kurt was unavailable to do it right, and Artie is a director.. so close enough?

9:17pm: What an adorable dream sequence of "Wishin' and Hopin'" with a heavenly theme of angels featuring some background vocals from Blaine and Sam.

9:19pm: Mercedes is on a mission to bring Rachel back to the stage, while Santana is sad that her Abuela doesn't accept her. Apparently, Brittany is also on a mission as she plays candy striper to Santana's Abuela.

9:22pm: I love how Santana's Abuela is Jane the Virgin's grandmother, too. #abuelasharingiscaring.

9:25pm: Brittany is really on a mission to get Santana's Abuela to come to terms with her, and she's doing it with Fondue for Two - or Queso for Dos.

9:27pm: Santana does not seem to approve of what her Abuela has to say after all she said about her when she came out. Mercedes is still at it to make Rachel miss New York, so why not do a little "When You Get Caught Between The Moon and New York City" with some old New Directions and New-New Directions singing in snazzy suits and top hats.

9:33pm: Brittany is a celebrity among her new Latino market, and Santana is pretty pissed about her being friends with Abuela.

9:35pm: Brittana is doing swell, and Sam is singing a little "They Long To Be Close To You" but it's not for Rachel - as he peers into the choir room and later serenades Mercedes. Ooh, looks like Samecedes is still a burning flame.

9:38pm: Mercedes maybe seeing someone, but Sam still has a thing for her, despite being somewhat into Rachel. Looks like Mercedes pushing Rachel has done the trick, Rachel is headed to audition for the new musical she brought to her attention. Rachel breaks down and is afraid of failing at her dreams, but Mercedes is there to remind her that failure is a part of life.

9:41pm: PROMISES, PROMISES is a perfect reintroduction to New York and getting your dream song. Now, get it, Ms. Berry! It's your time to shine.

9:47pm: Abuela and Santana come face to face for the first time, and what better way than with "What's It All About, Alfie?" as a buffer song.

9:49pm: Looks like the truth is coming out, and Abuela is finding out that Brittany is engaged to Santana. Abuela is angry, but Brittany's intentions are true and sweet, and Santana is firm and strong with what her Abuela once taught her.

9:51pm: Brittany just served up harsh real talk to Abuela, and it's absolutely amazing. Santana stands by her lady, and Abuela exits having been served. Hopefully you're going to see your other granddaughter, Jane.. she's a pregnant virgin. #watchjanethevirgin.

9:54pm: Looks like Rachel is back at it - #broadwayberryisback.

9:55pm: Samchel sure seems like it's back on, too. Brittana is going strong with Santana proud of how her lady shoved it to Abuela.

9:58pm: What better way to end Burt Bacharach week than with "What the World Needs Now is Love" and a combination of the former glee clubbers and the newbies singing a beautiful love ballad, plus ending with a group hug!

10:00pm: Promo for next week is "All About That Bass" and what the world needs now - sweet, sweet love. #samchelandklaine. Also, a welcome back to Coach Bieste. Until next week, Gleeks!
