The man known for playing arguably the best dad on television, Mike O'Malley, has landed himself a new gig.

O'Malley has officially signed on to star in NBC's upcoming comedy pilot, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, The Hollywood Reporter has announced.

The project, written by RULES OF ENGAGEMENT's Mike Sikowitz, follows two families, one white, the other Latino, who find themselves forced together after their children fall in love - and get pregnant.

O'Malley has been tapped to play Dan Yoder, an orthodontist not known for going with the flow, and who isn't very well-equipped to handle his teenage daughter's pregnancy. Though easily frustrated, the character is described as being a loving husband and father who was eager to embrace his newly empty nest.

The actor is best known for playing Burt Hummel, father of Kurt, on Fox's GLEE. There's no word on whether or not O'Malley will continue to appear on the musical dramady, but things don't look good considering (SPOILER) Burt recently revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer.
