GAME OF THRONES Receives Super-Sized 3rd Season

GAME OF THRONES, HBO's fantasty epic, is set to receive an extra bump time-wise next season. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the third season of the televised adaptation of George R.R. Martin's series' will run a few minutes longer than in previous seasons.

Showrunners DAVID BENIOFF and Dan Weiss are taking on the content from the first half of Martin's longest SONG OF ICE AND FIRE novel, the 973-page literary bohemeth, A STORM OF SWORDS. The third season is still set for the standard 10-episode order.

"A super-sized season, as befitting Storm of Swords," Benioff adds. "Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57."

The cast of GAME OF THRONES includes Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson and Alfie Allen.

GAME OF THRONES returns on March 31.
