The Daily Mail reported today that James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, who voiced the title charcters of GNOMEO AND JULIET are hoping to play the gnomes in the upcoming sequel to the movie, SHERLOCK GNOMES. Both have been offered the roles, but deals have yet to be finalized.

John's Rocket Pictures will once again produce the project with 'Gnomeo' scribes Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil also on board to write the follow-up.

According to the report, the film will center on "the characters from the first movie enlisting the help of a famous gnome-detective in solving the sinister disappearance of gnomes from the suburban gardens of England."

GNOMEO & JULIET featured the voices of Golden Globe nominee James McAvoy (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe) as Gnomeo; Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) as Juliet; Academy Award winner Michael Caine (Inception) as Lord Redbrick; Jason Statham (The Trasnsporter franchise) as Tybalt; Ashley Jensen (TV's Ugly Betty) as Nanette; Patrick Stewart (X-Men franchise) as William Shakespeare; Ozzy Osbourne (TV's The Osbournes) as Fawn and Maggie Smith (Harry Potter franchise) as Lady Blueberry.

McAvoy's upcoming big screen projects include VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. He recently appeared in THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY: THEM and X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Blunt, last seen on the big screen in Rob Marshall's film adaptation of INTO THE WOODS, will soon appear in THE HUNTSMAN. Among her recent credits are SICARIO, EDGE OF TOMORROW, THE WIND RISES, LOOPER and more.
