Elevation Pictures Inks Distribution Service With Universal Home Entertainment

Elevation Pictures continues its growth momentum with the announcement today that it has signed an exclusive distribution services agreement with industry powerhouse Universal Studios Home Entertainment Canada.

Effective immediately, Universal will be the exclusive Blu-ray™ and DVD sales and distribution partner for Elevation's full portfolio of current and upcoming films and television programs within the home entertainment marketplace. The first title covered under the deal is the genre film Oculus, which is slated for release in Canada on Blu-ray™ and DVD August 5, 2014.

"We are thrilled to be in business with Universal, as they are a long-standing dominant player in the home entertainment space in Canada, with veteran film executives who have proven track records of delivering solid results," said Co-Presidents Laurie May and Noah Segal.

Since its launch, Elevation Pictures has been building a robust film slate with its first theatrical releases including Oculus, which was released wide in the U.S. by Relativity Media and Locke, starring Tom Hardy, released in the U.S. by A24.

Elevation's upcoming releases include The Imitation Game, directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, which will be released by The Weinstein Company in the U.S.; A Most Violent Year, directed by JC Chandor starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac, to be released by A24 Films stateside; Nightcrawlers starring Jake Gyllenhaal getting wide U.S. release by Open Road Films; American Ultra starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart to be released by Lionsgate in the U.S.; Triple Nine, directed by John Hillcoat starring Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor also to be released wide by Open Road in the U.S.; the Canadian film Regression, from acclaimed director Alejandro Amenobar starring Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson, getting wide release in the U.S. by The Weinstein Company; American Express, produced by the Oscar®-winning team at Anapurna, to be directed by Nash Edgerton and star Charlize Theron; and Sing Street, to be directed by John Carney and to be released in the U.S. by the Weinstein Company.
