Eddie Murphy Reveals 'I Still Want to Host the Oscars'

In an interview with Access Hollywood yesterday, funnyman Eddie Murphy has revealed that he still hopes to host the Oscars in the future. “It’s still something that I would like to do one day, because all the best comics have done it,” the comedian told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson. “It’s one of the few things I haven’t done in my 35 years in this business, so I would like to have that be part of my resume as well.”

Murphy was to host this year's Oscars but backed out after the show's original director, Brett Ratner, resigned after a controversy erupted from inappropriate anti-gay remarks he had made.  Comedian Billy Crystal stepped in to take over the hosting duties, joining producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer

Murphy appeared in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. The actor is a Saturday Night Live alum who has starred in such films as the Shrek movies (lending his voice to Donkey), Daddy Day Care, the Nutty Professor movies, Doctor Dolittle, Mulan (as the voice of Mushu), the Beverly Hills Cop films, Tower Heist and Coming to America.  His latest film, “A Thousand Words,” will be released in theaters this month.
