Director and producer Lee Daniels has revealed to Billboard that he plans to write a musical about his life. The EMPIRE creator tells the site, "My publicist will kill me, but I'm in talks about doing a musical about my life. I've had a pretty interesting life. I've come from the projects. I've been homeless. It'll have original music and sort of be like Fellini's 8 1/2 or All That Jazz."

Daniels' next project is a new series titled 'Star,' starring Queen Latifah. The drama will follow three talented singers, desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success. It's set to debut on FOX in 2017. Check out the trailer below.

Lee Daniels produced Monster's Ball and directed Precious, which received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Director; the film won two of the awards. In 2012, Daniels directed The Butler, a historical fiction drama featuring an ensemble cast portraying unique events on the 20th century presidents of the United States at the White House. Daniels is also a co-creator, executive producer and director of the television series Empire that debuted in 2015.
