Discovery to Help Ignite Environmental Change with Tonight's RACING EXTINCTION

Discovery is joined by world-renowned organizations to help ignite a movement of environmental change, ahead of the network's December 2nd global premiere of RACING EXTINCTION at 9PM. From Academy Award-winning director, LOUIE Psihoyos and the team behind THE COVE, this groundbreaking documentary examines biodiversity loss, its effect on humanity, and the solutions that inspire hope for a more sustainable future.

Inspired by the film's message and as a part of Discovery's #StartWith1Thing initiative, Discovery is partnering with numerous organizations to help make a positive global impact on the environment. This film serves as a voice to thousands of species teetering on the edge of extinction. This impassioned collective of organizations will work in-step with Discovery to not only bring attention to the plight of endangered species but ignite a movement to save them.

Oceana is the largest international advocacy group working solely to protect the world's oceans. Using science-based campaigns, they seek to win policy victories to make our oceans more biodiverse and abundant. Oceana victories helped to protect more than 1.2 million square miles of ocean and innumerable sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and other sea creatures. For RACING EXTINCTION, Oceana created a petition on Change.org urging President Obama and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to take urgent action to save sea turtles, thousands of which die each year as non-targeted catch in US fisheries. Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities, a key issue addressed in RACING EXTINCTION. With more than 1.2 million members and activists, Defenders of Wildlife is a leading advocate for innovative solutions to safeguard our wildlife heritage for generations to come. For RACING EXTINCTION, Defenders of Wildlife has developed a series of petitions and pledges that people can take to protect wildlife throughout North America.
