At Saturday's TCA presentation, FOX TV Group chairman Gary Newman shared this week that he is "hopeful" about the prospect of bringing back the iconic drama, THE X-FILES. Fellow FOX chairman Dana Walden also joined the conversation, saying that if it happens, this reboot will feature the original stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Yesterday, David Duchovny told USA Today that he's ready to reprise the role of Agent FOX Mulder, commenting that he's "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter)."

The 54-year-old Duchovny added: "I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

The creative team has not met yet to further discuss specifics of the series. Creator Chris Carter also hinted at the series making a return summer 2015.
