An education advocate and local movie producer will be featured on the August 26 live broadcast of Chicago Counterpoint TV, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CST). Fathers' rights attorney and advocate Jeffery M. Leving will host the show, which broadcasts on Channel 21 of Chicago Access Network Television (CAN-TV).

Phillip Jackson, founder and executive director of the Black Star Project, will be the first guest starting at 7:30 p.m. Jackson is an award-winning advocate for community and parental involvement in education. Each year, his group leads the Million Father March, a nationwide event of men escorting children to school on the first day.

"Research shows that when fathers and men are at schools, children learn better and faster," said Jackson, who last year won President Barack Obama's Champions of Change Award for education. "Fathers working with schools is a major part of the solution to crime and poverty."

Joseph Della Monica, a producer of the film Love Is Strange, will be the second guest at 7:45 pm. He will discuss the film, which was directed by Ira Sachs and stars Academy-Award nominated John Lithgow and Alfred Molina. Academy Award-winner Marisa Tomei also stars in the film. Lithgow and Molina play a long-term same-sex couple who marry and face job loss with the Archdiocese.

The storyline reflects the real-life circumstances of a Chicago area music teacher who was fired from his post at Holy Family Catholic Community after marrying his partner.

Leving recently attended a private screening of the film, due out Aug. 29, with Della Monica and Sachs and has been in discussions about a subsequent film project.

Chicago Counterpoint TV provides positive role models for dads, essential legal education to men in divorce and Chicago divorce lawyers seeking to expand their professional knowledge.
