Comedian and 'Rhoda' Star Richard Schaal Dies at Age 86

Flm and television actor Richard Schaal, who began his career as a member of Chicago's Second City comedy troupe, has died at the age of 86.

Schaal died Tuesday at the Motion Picture and Television Fund home in Woodland Hills, his daughter, AMERICAN DAD! voice actress Wendy Schaal, revealed to the Chicago Tribune.

In 1962, he joined Chicago's Second City, becoming skilled in sketch and improvisational comedy. He had a recurring role in Just Our Luck.

The actor featured in several episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where he played no less than four different characters, Howard Arnell, his brother Paul, Chuckles the Clown and Dino, The Bob Newhart Show (as Chuck Brock), Rhoda (as Charlie Burke) and Phyllis (as Leo Heatherton).

Schaal was married to actress Valerie Harper from 1964 to 1978.
