Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn & More Set for LMU's 'Hollywood Masters' Series

Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television has announced the third installment of The Hollywood Masters, whichkicks off in February with actor-writer-director Ethan Hawke (Boyhood, Before Sunrise), followed by Hollywood legends Clint Eastwood (American Sniper, Unforgiven) and Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River).

The third season will also include some of Hollywood's most distinguished artists, among them actor-director Kenneth Branagh (Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing), documentarian Ken Burns (The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, The Civil War), producer Gale Anne Hurd (the Terminator trilogy, The Walking Dead) and music legend Quincy Jones (The Color Purple, The Wiz).

THE INTERVIEW series, launched in February 2014, has included such major film artists as Hans Zimmer, Hilary Swank, Billy Bob Thornton, David O. Russell, Judd Apatow, Alfonso Cuarn and Sherry Lansing all of whom have been interviewed at the LMU campus by award-winning journalist Stephen Galloway.

Clips from the interviews, conducted before an audience of students, faculty and alumni, will be shown on The Hollywood Reporter website, where the series to date has drawn an audience across the world.

"The Hollywood Masters series has established itself as an essential component of the film school's mandate to connect students to the entertainment industry's most accomplished and respected figures," said Stephen Ujlaki, Dean of the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television. "Our students are beyond thrilled with the slate of guests this season."

"It's hard to imagine a more brilliant and pioneering group of writers, directors, composers and producers than those gathered for the Masters series," said Galloway, executive features editor for The Hollywood Reporter. "These filmmakers have put a stamp on film history that will last for generations, and it's only fitting that the next generation of filmmakers should get a chance to see them in person."

The Hollywood Masters, which is open to LMU students, faculty and alumni only, will be taped before a live audience.

Movie industry moguls helped establish Loyola Marymount University's (LMU) current campus on the bluffs above west Los Angeles in the 1920s. By 1964, LMU was formally teaching film and television curriculum, and in 2001, the School of Film and Television (SFTV) was established as its own entity. Today, SFTV offers students a comprehensive education where mastering technical skills and story is equally important to educating the whole person, including the formation of character and values, meaning and purpose. SFTV offers undergraduate degrees in animation, production, screenwriting and recording arts; minors in film and television studies, animation and screenwriting, and graduate degrees in production, screenwriting, and writing and producing for television.
