It appears as if Christina Ricci might be waking up from her COMA earlier than expected.

According to Deadline, the actress has officially dropped out of NBC's drama pilot GIRLFRIEND IN A COMA, following the project's very first table read.

Production on the Liz Brixius pilot may move to Los Angeles, the site notes, as the project had previously been in New York to accomodate Ricci.

Based upon Douglas Coupland's novel, the drama follows Karen (Ricci), a 30something woman who wakes up from a coma only to discover she has a 17-year-old daughter (Miranda Cosgrove) who is being raised by her parents. As previously reported, Daniel Stern and Ann Cusack had signed on to play Karen's mother and father.

Ricci last appeared on television as a guest star on THE GOOD WIFE, and in ABC's Pan Am as Maggie Ryan. As a young screen actress, Ricci played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family films, as well as Kat Harvey in Casper. In her later career, she appeared in The Ice Storm, Buffalo '66, The Opposite of Sex, Sleepy Hollow, Monster, Penelope, Black Snake Moan and more.

Ricci has appeared on Broadway in The 24 Hour Plays 2003 and 2004, as well as Mandy Bloom in Time Stands Still in 2010. Her Off-Broadway credits include Classic Stage Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream this year.
