China Lion Film Acquires Rights to Romantic Comedy THE BREAKUP GURU

China Lion Film Distribution announced today that it has acquired and will release Enlight Picture's romantic comedy The Breakup Guru in the U.S. and Canada, as well as Australia and New Zealand, day-and-date with its Mainland release on June 27th, 2014. The film features Chinese stars Deng Chao (who co-directed the film with Yu Baimei) and Yang Mi. Deng Chao, a famed actor and a member of the Chinese National Theatre from Mainland China, with notable films like The Four Franchise, and Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. Yang Mi is a well-known Chinese actress known for her roles in Tiny Times and Painted Skin: The Resurrection, the latter of which China Lion Australian/New Zealand previously released.

The Breakup Guru follows the misadventures of a man (Deng Chao) hired to do one of the most uncomfortable Jobs ever: break-up with someone. China Lion Film will release The Breakup Guru in major metro areas throughout both North America and Australia and New Zealand on June 27th, 2014, continuing the trend of releasing their films day-and-date with China; specific release locations and dates will be announced, but will include major theatres in Los Angeles, New York, the San Francisco/San Jose area, Vancouver and Toronto and others. China Lion Film Distribution previously released Dante Lam's That Demon Within on April 18th, starring Daniel Wu and Nick Cheung, which is still in limited North American theatrical release, and Beijing Love Story on February 14th for Valentine's Day, which became the company's highest grossing film in the U.S. and Canada; it announced a home entertainment deal with Digital Media Rights (DMR, found at www.digitalmediarights.com) during the 2014 Cannes market as well.
