Cartoon Network Takes Top Spot in Key Demos for First Week of 2013

Across the first week of January 2013, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Total Day delivery of boys 6-11, & 9-14, and #1 in Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 9-14. Scoring double-digit delivery gains compared the same week in 2012, Total Day delivery of kids 2-11 grew by 20%, kids 6-11 by 33% and kids 9-14 by 33%.

Ranking #1 for boys 6-11 & 9-14 vs. all other networks on Monday, Thursday and Friday Night (7-9 p.m.), Cartoon Network's Friday night programming line-up grew target kids/boys demos by double digits across the board, ranging between 19% and 96% vs. the same week last year.

Saturday Morning (7-11 a.m.) animated action-adventure programming was up double digits across all key kids and boys vs. last year, ranging between 12% and 36%. Premiere episodes of original series Ben 10: Omniverse (9 a.m.), Star Wars: The Clone Wars (9:30 a.m.), Green Lantern (10 a.m.) and Young Justice: Invasion (10:30 a.m.) grew by double and triple digits across kids/boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, ranging between 33% and 119%.

Adult Swim

Adult Swim's Total Day performance ranked #1 among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 on basic cable this week, behind only ESPN among adults 18-49, men 18-49 and men 18-34. Compared to the same week in 2012, average Total day delivery grew across the board - adults 18-24 by 22%, adults 18-34 by 12%, adults 18-49 by 13%, men 18-24 by 10%, men 18-34 by 11% and men 18-49 by 8%.

Adult Swim ranked #3 among basic cable networks for Prime Time (Broadcast definition) delivery of adults 18-34. Versus the 2012 time period, Prime delivery was up across all targeted adults and men, ranging between 9% and 37%.

A new episode of Robot Chicken (Sunday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all adults/men 18-24 & 18-34, growing by double and triple digits across all demos vs. the same time period last year, between 36% and 103%

truTV

truTV got the New Year off to a roaring start last Tuesday night with the premiere of Hardcore Pawn: Chicago, which drew more than 2.1 million viewers to rank as the network's biggest series launch ever. The show also scored truTV's biggest series debut ever in delivery of key demos, including adults 18-49 (1.0 million) and men 18-49 (602,000), scoring a Top 5 basic cable ranking in its 9:30 p.m. timeslot with the latter demo.

The premiere of Hardcore Pawn: Chicago was preceded at 9 p.m. by a new episode of Hardcore Pawn, which drew a hefty audience of 2.8 million viewers; 1.4 million adults 18-49; and 827,000 men 18-49 at 9 p.m. The show ranked as basic cable's #1 unscripted program in the timeslot with men 18-34 and men 18-49, as well as a Top 5 program with adults 18-49 and total viewers.

For the second consecutive week, Impractical Jokers drew its biggest audience ever as the Thursday 10 p.m. episode brought in more than 2 million viewers. In addition, the show ranked among basic cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot with total viewers and key adult demos.

TBS

Continuing its success into 2013, The Big Bang Theory on TBS accounted for 13 of basic cable's Top 15 most-watched sitcom telecasts for the week. In the demos, The Big Bang Theory claimed 13 of the Top 15 sitcom telecasts with adults 18-34 and all of the Top 15 with adults 18-49.

NBA TV

NBA TV's seven NBA Fan Night presented by Sprint telecasts this season are averaging 477,000 total viewers, up 5% compared to last season (455,000 total viewers for 22 telecasts).
