CBS EVENING NEWS Posts +4% Year-to-Year Audience Growth

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +4% year-to-year in viewers (6.10m from 5.88m), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending July 31. The CBS broadcast added +220,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

The CBS broadcast improved its competitive position with NBC by 310,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +3% in viewers (7.06m from 6.84m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.4/06) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to last year.

On last week's broadcasts, Major Garrett traveled with President Obama, covering his trip to Africa; David Begnaud reported on the Louisiana theater shooting; Debora Patta and Jamie Yuccas reported on THE KILLING of Cecil the lion by an American dentist; Jeff Pegues and Jonathan Vigliotti had the latest on plane debris found in the Indian Ocean that could be linked to the missing Flight MH370; and Carter Evans and John Blackstone reported on the California wildfires.
