Wednesday, September 24th

SURVIVOR | 8:00-9:00pm | CBS
This season, SURVIVOR returns with one of its popular set ups. Blood vs Water is back, and for a second time, contestants will have to outwit, outplay, and outlast their own loved ones. How will this cast, including Broadway alum Reed Kelly, fare in San Juan Del Sur? Grab your BFFs and play along at home, I am sure you can dig up some beetles to eat for a challenge.

THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA | 8:00-9:00pm | NBC
Who else is extremely happy that Debra Messing has finally returned to TV as the star in a new series that lets her be her kooky, quirky self (The scarves on SMASH weren't enough)? MYSTERIES OF LAURA feels like a mixture of her Grace (from WILL & GRACE, naturally) and LAW AND ORDER:SVU's Olivia Benson. Even though the show's set up like a normal crime procedural, it also has an element of humor.

MODERN FAMILY| 9:00-9:30pm | ABC
Fresh off its fifth Emmy win, MODERN FAMILY returns for its sixth season premiere. The episode sees Mitch and Cam returning from their honeymoon and getting acclimated to married life. We also see Gloria taking a stand against Jay, when he refuses to care about his progressively unhygienic appearance.

RED BAND SOCIETY | 9:00-10:00pm | Fox
In the second episode of Fox's new dramedy, we learn a little bit more about our new favorite human-Grumpy Cat Nurse Jackson (Octavia Spencer). This week, we also expect Mr. Shue to finally show up and lead the patients in a rousing rendition of "Don't Stop Believing."

NASHVILLE | 9:00-10:00pm | ABC
Ok, Laura Benanti doesn't join the cast until next week's second episode, but there is still a lot to look forward to from NASHVILLE's third season premiere. Whose proposal will Rayna accept, Luke (technically she already accepted his in front of a stadium full of people) or Deacon's? Will Avery forgive Juliette? Will the writers please let the show's most annoying character (Scarlett) leave town, as she had planned at the end of last season? What will happen now that reality TV cameras caught Will outing himself? We'll enjoy this episode, but only as an appetizer for Benanti's appearance next week!

BIG BROTHER | 9:30-11:00pm | CBS
Season 16 of BIG BROTHER has been especially compelling for theatre fans, as Broadway performer and producer (and Ariana's big brother) Frankie Grande exited the competition in fifth place. Now down to the final three, the jury will select whether Victoria, Derrick, or Cody will leave the BB house with $500,000. Broadway's KINKY BOOTS original and current cast member Ellyn Marie Marsh will be recapping the show for us.

KEY & PEELE | 10:30-11:00pm | Comedy Central
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele single (double)-handedly brought back the art of sketch comedy. Now in their Season 4 premiere they'll fight off alien invaders with the aid of their keen insight. Just wait to see how they know how to identify humans versus shape-shifters... it's probably the best test ever.
